Just a quick note to let you know how we are getting on preparing for the launch of our Tideway Innovation Programme on 28th September 2016.
I won’t steal the thunder of our Crossrail colleagues regarding what the future holds for innovation, however we would like to acknowledge the help of our innovate18 friends for their support, particularly William Reddaway, for presenting his insights into how to deliver an innovation programme at our first innovation champions event last week. This event was well attended and fun, despite a few FM issues which were out of our control, the show did go on and thanks to all champions for your enthusiasm and my team (Sophie and Charlotte) for hosting.
In the afternoon session, we held the second Tideway Innovation Forum (TIF) chaired by our Asset Management Director Roger Bailey. Two of our ‘Big Bang’ projects were approved for investment funding, and another related to industry collaboration approved for further research. We also took the opportunity to discuss how the Tideway Innovation Programme should operate. The next session will take place on the 2nd September where we will consider several opportunities in the presence of Mr John Pelton MBE himself! We look forward reviewing the Ultra-Wide Band proposal for Tideway, currently being developed by industry experts Comtact.
Suffice to say, paying for invested projects has been a challenge! but we are working through the finer details with our project controls team. I’d also like to thank our Tideway IS colleagues for their efforts. Further to a successful proposal, we are currently installing the AIMS (Alliance Innovation Management System) onto Tideway servers to help us manage ideas and investments. This should be slicker than my basic excel skills!
Lookout for our new home for innovation and keep the ideas coming!
(here’s how not to do it)!
