Tideway were proud to exhibit at Digital Construction Week (DCW) on 18th/19th October – an event that is home to all things ‘cool’ in our industry. Amongst demos of the latest technologies and keynote speeches from industry experts, visitors at the event on 18th and 19th October were able to try their hands at using virtual reality simulators and even a spot of drone racing.
Tideway’s digital leads in the Design Authority (Peter Vale and David Donaldson) hosted the event under ‘The Great Think’ brand, whilst our respective BIM Leads from the Alliance showcased the latest digital technologies being used on the Tideway project.
Amey showcased some fascinating examples of Artificial Intelligence plus Internet of Things, and demonstrated how they’ll be putting that technology to good use as Tideway System Integrator. We also had FLO demonstrating how they’re putting various Digital Engineering initiatives to good use on site, CVB showcasing their Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headsets for rehearsing Asset Inspections, and BMB showcasing 4D Augmented Reality programme management tools.
DCW is an emerging event which is now a hub for the very best technologies in construction, therefore it was important for Tideway to be there as a leading client. We were proud to showcase how Tideway is embracing technology as part of our relationship with i3P and recognise those who often work behind the scenes in digital engineering.
We would love to return to DCW next year to showcase hopefully yet more ideas which we will have taken from concept to reality – we are keen to see more of our i3P colleagues exhibiting and creating a bit of friendly competition and inspire the next generation of digital engineers!
Thanks to Tom Inglis from FLO, Tom Price from BMB, Sandra Reis from CVB and Patrick Owen from Amey for all their effort in making Tideway’s contribution stand out from the crowd.
